Broccoli can be planted in October, and the temperature should be controlled at about 15-20℃.Broccoli is planted in March every spring, when the weather is cooler and more suitable for plant growth. The broccoli growing in the period tastes better and can be harvested in June.
How to plant broccoli:
1. Select seeds and germinate
In the process of planting broccoli, choose the seeds of good quality and with no diseases and insect pests, and then put the seeds in warm water of about 50 degrees Celsius, soak for 25 minutes, be sure to constantly stir the seeds when the seeds are soaked at the beginning so that they may be heated evenly.
2. Sow seeds and grow seedlings
Broccoli is suitable for growing in loose and breathable soil. When planting it, choose fertile, moist, soft soil, and apply rotten fertilizer as base fertilizer, and then drain the seeds, evenly spread them in the soil, cover them with a thin layer of soil.
3. Transplant and plant in field
After broccoli seedlings grow to 30 cm high, take transplanting measures, select the seedlings that grow well in the field, without diseases and insect pests. After digging them out with soil, plant them in fertile fields at a depth of 3-4 cm, and wait for the broccoli seedlings to survive; be sure to keep the temperature between 15-20 degrees Celsius, which is conducive to plant growth.
After broccoli seedlings come out, it is necessary to provide sufficient light, water and nutrients. In the early stage of growth, the fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, may speed up the branches and leaves and make the leaves more green. At the same time, provide proper water, and water once every 1 week.
The growth cycle of broccoli of early maturing varieties is about 90 days, and that of late maturing varieties is about 120 days. Generally, it takes 15-20 days from the flower ball emergence of broccoli to harvest. Ripe broccoli is thick green, its flower ball is very tight, and the flower shape is very round. The broccoli ball has fully grown, and the particles on the flower bud are neat and not scattered, which indicates that the plant may be harvested.
